Baby & Child First Aid Class

The 2-hour Baby & Child First Aid class covers CPR, Choking, Bumps, Burns, Breaks, Bleeding, Febrile Seizures and Meningitis & Sepsis Awareness and will give everyone who attends the peace of mind they deserve. Mini First Aid partner with the First Aid Industry Body, Children’s Burns Trust, Meningitis Research Foundation & Sepsis Trust for the latest in medical research updates to support our teaching.

We have not only received awards for the quality of the classes but consistently those who attend review Mini First Aid as a 5-star first aid class.

The practical public & private classes, and our online course, all cover first aid techniques suitable from new born baby and throughout childhood.

Family First Aid

This comprehensive 3-hour Online Family First Aid course has been created by Mini First Aid to give you the knowledge to help a baby, child or adult with both minor and major first aid incidents as well as giving advice on how to manage a range of common illnesses and conditions. The course can be completed in your own time and you will be able to download a certificate on completion of the course. 

When purchasing access to the online course you will be sent an activation code and login instructions.  There is no expiry date on the code so the course can be taken when you are ready.  The course takes three hours in total, but can be paused and returned to, making it perfect if you are called away by your little one(s).

Baby Proofing

Our *NEW* Mini First Aid Baby Proofing class is our second class, designed for parents and carers of babies and children over 3 months. It can be taken after our 2 hour Baby and Child First Aid class, or in isolation for those parents who are starting their weaning journey, or have a baby on the move!

This course is an absolute must for preventing accidents in the home – very sadly, in 2020 over 60,000 children were admitted into hospital in the UK after a preventable accident. Parents and carers lead such busy lives that we are often just a bit of good luck away from a hair straightener burn, a fall down the stairs or a choking incident while your back is turned. Baby proofing will teach you how to prevent these accidents from happening, as well as giving you a first aid refresh on how to deal with burns and choking.

The 2-hour Baby Proofing class is Accredited by the Global Alliance for Child Safety. Mini First Aid Baby Proofing follows on perfectly from our parent and carer first aid class and is available at public venues or a private class at home.

St Joseph’s School, Wetherby (Early Years class) Our Nursery class love to get involved in whole-school curriculum enrichment activities but First Aid for 3-4 year olds? Even for our well-seasoned teachers, this sounded like a tall order. How wrong we were! Our sessions with Claire were absolutely brilliant. Skillful teaching, great resources, clear messages and important safety information; empowering our children to feel like mini first aiders. With the help of Max the teddy, we learned simple first aid techniques for cuts, scrapes and head bumps; as well as learning how to make someone comfortable by lying them on their side if they are very poorly. We learned about how you may need to phone 999 in an emergency and that you need to know your address. We have been working with Mini First Aid since 2017 on various platforms. Most recently, we ran a highly successful campaign with a 3 pronged approach - the first was to educate more parents about sensitive skin via a Mini First Aid blog, newsletter feature and podcast, the second was to team up on a brand awareness competition via social media, and the third was to reach a wider audience by giving out free Childs Farm samples to hundreds of parents whilst they were learning life-saving first aid. One afternoon, we were enjoying a day out in the sunshine and had stopped to feed our daughter of 7 months, she’s just started solid food and we’d been giving her sliced banana to chew on. On this particular day, she inhaled a small piece and began to choke. I quickly remembered Martin’s words, put her in the proper hold, bottom in the air and one forceful strike between her shoulder blades dislodged the banana and although she was shocked, she was able to breathe again and I can’t tell you how relieved we felt! It may have only been 10 seconds in which she couldn’t breathe but it was terrifying. Had I not had the training from Martin and Mini First Aid, I cannot even begin to imagine how differently the situation could have turned out. In fact, I’d go as far to say that the training I received enabled me to save our daughter’s life.

Sky are always looking for ways to better support their staff and Parents@Sky Network offers support and benefits to staff who are parents. I came across Mini First Aid through a Facebook promotion and there was a huge demand for the Infant and Child First Aid class which was shared on our internal and external social channels. The communication and organisation of the event was excellent - Sarah-Lou was professional, engaging and even injected some parent style humour!
